The Business of Curling

"Club Marketing & Management Program"
In today's uncertain economic environment, the need for sporting organizations to adopt sound management and practices has never been greater. The Business of Curling Program - a three phase marketing and management program - allows you to asses your curling club's position, plan your strategies and deliver exciting programs.

Phase I: The Club Business Assessment: Building Your Future
Phase I involves approximately 4 members from each of 4 or 5 different clubs and is aimed at promoting marketing ideas and coming away with one solid well developed idea for each club.

The one-day seminar will:
• Provide an overview of marketing and business planning
• Discussions on internal and external trends and issues
• Opportunity to network with other clubs, gather new ideas that will help to raise revenues and increase membership

Phase II: Building a Club Marketing Plan: Marketing for Success
Phase II involves the board and managers from one club and is conducted over the weekend.

The club will have the opportunity to:
• Analyze the club's current situation and prioritize areas of need
• Identified key strategies, with timelines, budgets and tasks assigned in marketing, fund-raising, operations and membership
• Evaluate efforts and make adjustments to your plan to build success for the future

Phase III: The Complete Business Plan: Planning for Success
The club management team will take part in club-specific consultations and develop a complete business plan for your club.

The process will include:
• The incorporation of detailed management techniques in the areas of finance, facilities management, marketing, and staff/volunteer supervision
• Other ways of "doing business" for curling clubs
• Completion of the "Club Business Assessment"
• Include Board governance and management structures

Curl Atlantic is committed to the continuing success of the curling clubs in the Atlantic Region. Business of Curling is one way to assist in this success.
