Congratulations to the many volunteers who worked so tirelessly over the last couple of years in their efforts to see a new curling facility open in Corner Brook.  Officially the club opened on Monday, November 28th with regular club play commencing December 5th.

Senior curlers in the province are looking forward to this coming February when the Corner Brook Curling Club plays host to the Provincial Senior Men and Senior Women Championships.

Thank you to the executive and curlers at the Caribou Curling Club, Stephenville, for being such gracious hosts, sharing their facility during the past two years with our Corner Brook curlers.

L-R: Jeff Thomas-Coach, Colin Thomas, Cory Schuh, Chris Ford, Spencer Wicks and Stephen Ryan

After a great 3rd place Bronze medal showing at the Canadian Jr. Men's championship in Calgary, AB, this team was selected as the team to represent MUN at the Canadian University championship held at both Bally  Haly Country Club and the St. John's Re-max Center Curling Club. They were joined by Stephen Ryan who played in the fifth player spot. The two coaches were Toby MacDonald and Jeff Thomas. After a tough start in the round robin series, losing their first 2 games, the team dug deep to put some wins together and never looked back. They qualified for the playoffs at 3rd spot after the round robin and then won the semi final against the University of Alberta, earning them the right to play the Manitoba Bisons in the final. The MUN team took control right from the start of the final game and held a 2 point lead going into the final end. Facing two opposition stones, the skip, Colin Thomas, drew to full eight foot to clinch the win and the Canadian Championships. They now have the prestigious honour of representing Memorial University of Newfoundland as Team Canada in Karuizawa, Japan January Jan 25th - 30th, 2012.
